Electoral authorities well prepared

These days more than 75 000 members of election commissions of constituencies established in the country are having important training, according to the approved work schedule for this first phase of general elections.

Among them is Martha Rodriguez Garcia, secretary of one of those commissions in the Havana municipality of Diez de October, who has a vast experience in these functions since 1976, stresses the importance of the workshops which now receives, taking into account the update information on existing governing documents.

"Like the rest of the members of my commission, in July, I participated in a general training session and in the coming days we will have another specific for the process of nomination of candidates," she said satisfied to have well-defined areas for this step in her demarcation.

It is now an entire phase preceding the nomination process of candidates to be held in the country between next September 3 and 29, in which voters, in their own right and free,  will democratically and transparently propose whom they see is the ones that fit for their skills and individual merits.

As it is known, the elections for delegates to municipal assemblies of People's Power are scheduled for the coming October 21, and one Sunday later, on the 28, will be the second round in those constituencies where no candidate has obtained more than 50% of valid votes cast.
